If you are having trouble with your GRUB boot option after reinstalling windows then this tutorial will guide you through how to fix it,
the issue with grub usually occurs after you reinstall windows or install windows after Linux distros, which the windows boot overwrite the grub boot option, and if you boot your device you will no longer have option to choose which OS you want to run, it will automatically run windows. to fix this issue follow the instructions below.
Get a copy of your Linux distros,on a cd or make a bootable usb of the iso file,
After that, boot your device using the CD or USB, and let the OS run as a Test version, as soon as you get to your desktop, open your disks and locate the partition you installed the Linux Distros On, its Ext4 partition click on it to verify it, it wil be written at the bottom
“Partition Type:Linux” Now check for its partition link it will be like “/dev/sda6” 0r 5 or 4 according to the number of the partition.
after getting this right, now open your terminal Ctlr+Alt+T.
Type: sudo mount /dev/sda6 /mnt this defends on your partition number if its sda5 then change it to that. click enter, Enter your password and click enter again.
then type again: sudo grub-install –root-directory=/mnt /dev/sda click enter and you are done, restart your computer normally and you’ll be prompted with GRUB Option, To do it in graphical way: you can use boot repair to repair it , use this commands below to download install and use it. sudo apt-add-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair
boot-repair.
follow all the instructions.
Please note that this commands should be written as they are, with the gaps and everything, I suggest copying and pasting into the terminal…….
