Virtues of Knowledge Seeking

Allah Almighty says (what means): Allah witnesses that there is no deity other than Him, as do the angels and those of knowledge – [that He is] maintaining [creation] in justice. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.} [Quran 3: 18]

So know [O Muhammad] that there is no God but Allah, and ask forgiveness for your sin and the sins of the believing men and women. And Allah is aware of your movements and where you sleep. [Quran 47: 19]

He also says (what means): and pray, “My Lord, increase my knowledge.” [Quran 20: 114]

‘Uthman, may Allah have mercy on him, related that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam (may Allah exalt his mention) said, “The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others.” [Al-Bukhari]

Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, related that Allah’s Messenger, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam (may Allah exalt his mention), said: Whoever relieves a believer from the hardships of this world, Allah will relieve him from the sufferings of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever relieves the suffering of someone in need, Allah will relieve his suffering in this life and the next. Whoever conceals (a Muslim’s flaws), Allah will conceal his flaws in this life and the next. Allah assists a servant as long as the servant assists his brother. And whoever follows a path in search of knowledge will find it easy to reach Paradise. [Muslim]

Mu’awiyah, may Allah be pleased with him, related that Allah’s Messenger, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam (may Allah exalt his mention), said: Allah gives religious understanding to those whom He wishes well. And I am only a distributor, whereas Allah is the Giver. There shall remain a group of my Ummah victorious over those who contradict them until the command of Allah Almighty comes while they are victorious. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
